What's the Dusty Dash?

A 2-week, 5,000km rally through Southern Africa, in a Citi Golf that was never designed for any of this, with two friends who probably weren't either.

We give you the keys, gesture vaguely north, throw a couple of waypoints on a map, and wish you luck. After that, you’re on your own.

No GPS. No safety net. No turning back.

Just dust, adventure and an experience that you will never stop talking about.

Meet Your Ride

The mighty. The messy. The magnificent Citi Golf.

A front-wheel-drive beast from the golden age of South African motoring. Back when cars were simple, cheap, and didn’t beep at you every five seconds.

She’s scrappy, nippy, and full of personality. Built for city errands… now drafted into tackling some of Africa’s most interesting roads.

No air-con. No power steering. No Bluetooth.

Just the windows down, the engine offering its unsolicited commentary, and the kind of freedom modern cars have tried very hard to ruin.

We hand you the keys, slap a few stickers on for morale, and off you go.

The Route (Ish)

Cape Town to Malawi. One long dust trail across Southern Africa that you will never forget.

It’s roughly 5,000km through deserts, game reserves, mountain passes, and way too many dusty roads.

You start in Cape Town, you roam through Namibia, you show up for the halfway party at Victoria Falls, and you eventually finish on the beaches of Lake Malawi.

We give you a rough route and one mandatory checkpoint. Everything else is yours to figure out.

Stick with other teams if you like company. Charge ahead on your own if you prefer chaos.

Expect freedom. Expect fun. And expect at least a few surprises you definitely did not plan for.

How It Works

This isn’t a guided tour. But you’re not being kicked into the bush with a map drawn on a napkin either.

We sort the essentials. You take care of the adventure.

You get a Citi Golf, a loose route to follow, and three big moments along the way:

  • Welcome night in Cape Town

  • Checkpoint party at Victoria Falls

  • Final send-off at Lake Malawi

Each one includes drinks, dinner, and an actual bed. Even the bravest explorers need to refuel.

We deal with the admin and the logistics.

You deal with the driving, the dust, and the decision-making.

And if you need advice, directions, or a bit of moral support, we’re always a message away.

Not to babysit you. Just to keep things moving in roughly the right direction.

Got Questions?

Got Questions?

We’ve answered a few of the big ones below.

Still unsure? Check the full FAQ.

How much does it cost?

From £3,000 per team, including your car, rally entry, and core support. A £1,000 refundable deposit secures your spot.

Do I need rally or off-road driving experience?

Not at all. If you can drive a manual and survive a road trip with your mates, you’re qualified.

How big is a team?

2–3 people per car. Enough to share the driving and the amazing stories.

Is it safe?

It’s an adventure, not a free-for-all. We provide vehicle tracking, checkpoints, and a midway regroup, with other teams around you the whole way.

Is this a race?

No. There’s no prize for finishing first. This is about the journey, the chaos, and the stories you’ll tell after.

When is the next rally?

October 2026. Join the waitlist to get early access before spots disappear.
